They needn't emulate a lot of processing schemes. Just one or two for each of a couple-three of the more popular B&W films. Removing various features like the slimming filter could free up more computing space on the internal card/chip/whatever. IAC, however it's done, it would just be nice to be able to get a nice B&W result from a DSLR w/out having to use lots of techniques and skill in editing software. People here have provided all sorts of reasons why it's neither practical nor necessary, even to the point of agreeing that some current features are silly, but "what's wrong with that." Well, nothing's wrong with it, just as nothing's wrong with making a camera that can shoot in B&W. Anyway, it ain't gonna happen, so we'll still have plenty of room for silly stuff on the camera menu and in firmware. How nice ;-))
