I had an urge to work out how clocks where made too. I have no idea how many
alarm clocks my parent had to buy me because of this ;-)

Thank you, Tim!  That is very interesting, and potentially something 
even I could do, although I have to admit to an inherent fear of 
clocksprings and tiny gears exploding forth from anything as delicate 
as my my dad's old watch  ... but I was only about 7 then  ;-) ......

Anyway, I have just sent a bunch of images shot with 2 telephoto lenses 
to a customer service person at Pentax, and am awaiting a response from 
them.  I may email the poster of those instructions in the meantime.
