F and later series lenses transmit focal length info to the body. You have to set the FL with A and earlier series lenses, or adapted 6x7 and 645 series lenses. With an A or earlier series zoom lens, you'll have to change the setting manually as the focal length runs out of the acceptable range if you want to use SR.
