Yes; Arthurs Pass is about halfway between Christchurch and  
Greymouth.  The Tranz Alpine, one of the world's great rail journeys,  
passes through there.

Ah yes, Ash Vegas ;)  I've been there many times, but always just  
passing through.  Not much there to interest us big-city folk ;)
