Sooner have that than 3 FPS and a dead battery. I expect you will find the 500 shot/charge estimate is both fairly conservative, and is based on not only a certain number of pictures taken, but also on a presumed % of flash use, and a presumed amount of chimping. I'd be surprised if the camera got less than 1000 or so shots/charge with no flash and little chimping.
