I actually like the extending zoom, as it allows you to shoot wide on 
the street without people realizing, as it looks like you're zoomed in 
to them. Dunno why you're complaining about the weight though, it's all 
of 10 grams heavier than the 24-90 (365 grams to the 24-90's 355g). It 
also focuses much closer (28cm instead of 50cm).

I just wish Pentax had used a similar hood design to the Canon 24-70L 
(Which has the same zoom configuration) so that the hood would be more 
effective at longer lengths.
