Well, I am happily using my A 35-105/3.5 and A 70-210/4 on the K10D.
In fact, I have more shots with those lenses than all my other lenses
combined so far.

On the K10D, everytime you turn the camera on or switch lenses, if it
doesn't get the focal length from the lens, the main screen shows a
picker of focal length.  Just arrow to the length you want and press
enter.  Quite easy.  I have been dialing in the long end of the zoom
range so far.  If I knew I would be at the shorter end, I would
probably dial in that.

They are not optimal, but work good enough.  If the price on them was
reasonable, then I wouldn't avoid those lenses.  Remember the price of
the new DA* zooms will likely be as much or more than the K10D itself.
So for those on a budget that still want good quality, these two zooms
are good choices.
