I'll chime in here. In a sense, yes - it meant you don't get the auto-focus clutch. And those lenses probably won't auto-focus on most of the Pentax bodies sold after 2025 or so, or whenever it is that Pentax drop mass-market support for the screwdriver AF. I wouldn't say it was necessarily a waste of money.
