Hi all. I received my new FA 35/2 lens from B&H yesterday, and upon inspection I
noticed two white dots on the inside of the lens that cause streaky flares across the
elements. These dots are not on any of the elements, but appear to be on the inside
walls or the element mounts. They are near the front of the lens, in front of the
aperture diaphragm.
So what do I do. I assume the dots are not supposed to be there. I bought the lens
for a trip I have planned to Aspen in 10 days. I've never tried to make a return to
B&H, but in my opinion sending it to Pentax is out of the question. I've never even
mounted it on a camera. I'm inclined to try to get a return authorization for the
lens, and then just order a new one to speed up the process and eat the extra cost of
shipping.
Any advice is appreciated. BTW, I remember reading about a problem with flare off of
the hood that comes with the lens because the hood is smooth plastic. Is this a real
problem and what can be done. Thanks.
