I think you definitely should try and get it replaced. The visual dots, whether they
influence the picture or not, are lowering the second hand value of it.
However, how to go about it, I'm not the best man to judge that.

Don't recall if it actually was the 35/2 but Yoshihiko showed what he did to his hood
(and that looked very good), somwhere on his site:
