Congratulations! You now own the best 35mm SLR in the world! :-)

Push lever toward lens mount to stop down lens; do the same with the
button pressed to lock mirror up (and press button again to release
mirror if you change your mind), pull lever out to arm self-timer.

Exposure compensation from two stops under to two stops over,
respectively.

This is how the LX tells you you've got the lens set to a mode the
body does not support. :-)

Don't know.

If, by lugs, you mean the metal gizmos that the strap physically
attaches to (as opposed to the metal "knobs"that the lugs, in turn,
attach to), then yes, you can get them off. There's an integrated
sliding lock plate that you push a little way out of the lug, and it
will then come off the knob. It's not entirely easy to do, but if you
study it closely, and are careful, you'll get it.

The grip has a screw on the front that locks it.

Now, go to the following web site:

...and study the manual you find there. :-)
