I had a boss who once sold Univac computer systems.
He insisted on promoting the distinction between obsolete and superceded.
In that vein, a *ist DS is superceded by a better camera but is not
obsolete in the sense of being useless.  It still offers a good
picture taking capability and will remain with many of us as a second
digital camera.
