I'm sorry I have taken a while to reply - there's obviously been a lot of
traffic on the list recently, and here in the UK, most people's thoughts
are with those who are suffering...
I used basic grey primer, and matt black (3 coats) of automotive spray
paint! I think primer is always pretty important because it gives the
paint something to adhere to, to 'key', so that it resists flaking off.
Worth a try - if it doesn't take, you could perhaps re-sand the grip?
