I haven't run into this yet, but then I don't tend to such extremes.  
Most of my photography happens in the 1 second and up range.

That said, like with any other new digital camera of this calibre,  
there are bound to be some foibles. Recall that the first firmware  
update to the *ist DS included improvements to noise in the green  
channel ... only folks doing astrophotography noticed, but Pentax  
responded.

I'm sure that firmware updates will come along, and any of these  
issues will be resolved to the best of Pentax' ability.

It simply amazes me that people would immediately consider another  
brand for stuff like this. Its falls into the same blinkered way of  
looking at things that at other times is found laughable.
