Well, I've done a little to reduce our household fuel consumption;
over the last three years we've replaced a Range Rover and an '86
Mustang GT with a Mini and a BMW Z4. Taking into account how much
each car is driven, we've just about halved the amount of fuel we
use (although we do now have to buy higher octane fuel). But I can't
really feel too smug about that - we only average around 30mpg (US
gallon, admittedly), and I'm sure we use more than our fair share
of other things (such as electricity for air conditioning in the
summer, natural gas for heat in the winter, and hot water all year).
