My preference is always for backpacks over shoulder bags. I have made 3 purchases over the years, and the most important factor for me has been to have enough volume to cover present needs, but not more.
I recall when buying a pack for my 645 gear, I looked at various models online, and tried to line up my gear on a table to fit into various models.
