In 2000 we purchased a Mazda (Ford) Protege. Christie insisted on anti-lock brakes and side curtain air bags. Apparently, these safety features don't work properly without a sun roof, bigger engine, larger wheels and an upgraded stereo. Oh, well.
Ordering cars with specific options instead of packages used to be common. With today's promotions (special financing, rebates, etc.), there is always a disclaimer. "Must take delivery from dealer stock" or some such. When we lived in Heidelberg during the mid-80s my Dad ordered an 85 Ford LTD from the States. He specified exactly what he wanted on the car. Six months later, in 86, we received a car that wasn't quite what he ordered. (Mom wanted to buy a Volvo locally, but Dad wouldn't have any of that.) Two weeks later, doing about 60mph on the Autobahn (because the POS wouldn't go much faster than that) the crankshaft came apart. It sat at a local Ford dealer for about two months while they waited on a replacement engine. -- Scott Loveless http://www.twosixteen.com Shoot more film! -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
