  It is too short. That's why they made it longer (20s?) on MZ-S.
  Customizable would have been the best approach.

  Rather than squeezing the uncomfortable AE lock button, try
  depressing half-way the shutter button. This way you can keep the

  Lock focus, then while holding the shutter button half-way depressed
  with your index, move the camera and lock the exposure with your
  thumb. Note you don't have to keep your thumb pressed: the AE locks
  stays as long as you press the shutter button (and 10 seconds
  after).
  For me it's easier the other way around: lock exposure, then
  press the shutter button for as long is necessary to achieve the
  desired focus.
