I agree: it sure does look gimmicky, and a lot of bulk too.

I'm looking at one of the Kata Sensitivity-V backpacks. It's a slim,  
simple design that I've tested to fit the gear I normally carry, much  
slimmer by far than the LowePro CompuTrekker AW that I've had for   
transporting gear since 2003. Carry laptop, camera kit and my usual  
range of small junk without a hitch, double-duty for carrying  
portfolios and stuff too. Less fatiguing than the Timbuk2 for a heavy  
kit and a long day out walking.
