Apparently not if you want to be a "photographer." As per a
thread a week or so ago, nobody would ever want to do a linear RAW
conversion. If you do that, you're a technician wanting only to get the
maximum signal to noise ratio out of a "measurement instrument".... not
trying to produce photographs.
