I haven't owned either of the two, but the fact that the FA77 is faster then the DA70 has been a big argument for me. One of the reasons I am considering buying an FA77 or one of the 85's is that in addition to being a nice portrait lens on digital, it can be used as a FAST short-tele.
DA70, on the other hand, has the advantage of quick-shift focus. "In the ideal world" (tm), where all physics law are still present, thus, defining physical sizes of the lenses, I would want to have the following lenses for a 1.5x-crop DSLR (all with quick shift focus): 12-50mm - f/~2.8-3.2|4 18|20-60|80mm - f/2.8 50mm - f/1.4 (I'd keep the FA but would add the quick-shift focus) 100mm - f/1.7-2.0 (+ 1:1 macro) 50|70|100-300mm f/4 or f/2.8-4 200 or 300 f/2.8 maybe something like 10-17, which I still haven't tried, - for fun. (unlike majority on this list, I don't do as much wide-angle, so I prefer a zoom on the wide-angle side.. Well, maybe 12|14 f/2.8 would be hand as well.)
