when the highlights clip, there is no recovery,
ditto for shadows blocking. Thats why its
called limited dynamic range, and there is nothing you
can do to improve what the camera cant record.
The only solution is a better camera.

Do you not find it easier to recover highlight detail than shadow
detail?
