Funny, I feel just the opposite way. I think titles and captions 
detract and a good photograph shouldn't need either. Like Boris, I try 
to ignore them when viewing exhibits. I think photography is about 
light and shadow, color and texture, shape and form. If the photo 
doesn't communicate by itself then it's not a successful photograph in 
my view. 

Of course, I usually title my own photos, because so many people expect 
it. I'm perfectly willing to compromise on this issue if it'll 
encourage someone to get their check book out :)
