I was gonna respond to Godders with pretty much the same thing but then I'd get into the whole my OS/GUI is better than yours debate which I hate more than I hate every OS... FWIW, I run Blackbox on my linux machines and pretty much treat XP the same way: start menu, "Run..." window or "quick launch" for apps and docs. all the fancy little icons and whiz-bang autostarting crap are ignored or shut off. In my limited use of OS X I was shaking my head at all the "cool" animations on the little console bar thingy at the bottom. Whatever. to each his/her own.
