I asked Quantum if I could use the battery 2 power supply with the AF-540 FGZ. This is their answer:
"Thank you for your inquiry on the Pentax AF-540 FGZ. Unfortunately, we have not yet evaluated or tested that flash. We do not like to recommend using our products until we have fully tested the equipment and make sure that they will work with the unit. When we have completed our evaluation, we will add its compatibility to the list on our website. We can not officially recommend self-service or modifications of our products." (I had asked if I might be able to make a power cord with Radio Shack-type parts-bin pieces.) I'm tempted to try the batery 2 on my 540. The battery 2 is a 9-volt power supply. It seems the Pentax TR Power Pack III is also 9 volts in that it takes six C cells. However, this is confusing in that the flash without external power supply takes only four AAs. Does the TR Power Pack III reduce the voltage to six? Or can the flash operate on either six or nine volts? -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net
