To attach a screwmount lens to a K-Mount camera, you need the M42 to K
adapter. It's simply a steel bayonet mount that has a thread in the
center to accept screw mount lenses. It will mount in the K-mount camera
just as a lens would mount. (However, to remove it you have to depress
the little spring clip within the mount using a tiny screwdriver, a long
fingernail or a narrow, blade 17-inch stiletto.
Once the mount is installed, screw the lens into the mount. If the
lens is an automatic aperture lens, you'll have to set the aperture
switch to manual. Open the aperture to focus, stop down to meter and
shoot. I sometimes use a screwmount lens in aperture priority mode on my
LX in order to get the stepless shutter speed. In that case I focus at
wide open ap, then stop down and shoot. The OTF metering will perform as
advertised. (Any adjustments to an average exposure can be performed
with the exposure compensation dial.) This is a nice way to work with
the M42 lenses.
