For the iBook, do the install per what's been included with the printer. Once you've completed that, use the Print Setup application (in /Applications/Utilities) to configure the operating system for it.
as a check for version... Go into any application that prints, choose the File->Print ... menu command. In the Print dialog that appears, make sure you can choose the Epson R2400 printer, then (third popup down) choose the Summary panel. Under the "Print Settings" item, the first line is the printer version. You should have v2.5.3 or later. If what you have is a lower version than that, go to the Epson website and get the latest print drivers from their downloads area, and install them.
