Thanks, Godfrey. I see now. Conpensation is dialed in while the Fn menu is
open -  with the rear E.dial. Very convenient.

if you're using the built-in flash unit, set the flash compensation
to a minus value. See page 172 in your instruction manual for
"Compensating Flash Output".
