Here's an interview with Mr. Torigoe and Mr. Tatamika at PMA: http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/cda/other/2007/03/12/5799.html
A translation was done by Katsura at Pentaxforums: http://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/35557-post1.html Basically, there will be replacement models for K100D and K10D this year, and they promise that it will not be trivial changes like *ist D* updates. A higher end model is still in the works, but it does not sound like it will be ready any time soon. 8 or the remaining 9 lenses on the roadmap will be out this year; more are on the way. ----- Thanks, Lawrence, and thanks to Katsura. It seems a little contradictory. There will be updates every year, but there will not be trivial updates. How many years can one implement non-trivial updates to the K10D before the K1D becomes unnecessary? My wallet is not happy with this announcement of non-trivial, yearly updates. The announcement says 10 lenses this year. But the lens map shows only five being released this year. The other five lenses are on the map, but without release dates. I think we might see the DA 35 macro this year, since there is a mockup of the lens. The first two DA* zooms will be released within a few days. Pentax acknowledges the product supply problem. How can that be resolved with such an aggressive schedule of new product launches? Pentax's R&D staff are depressed. This is not good news. The interview says it is because of the production shortages. But I would not imagine that this would bother engineers that much. Production shortages show that their product is appreciated. How could this depress them? I suspect it could be because Pentax released the K10D with glitches. It was so close to being perfect, yet many posts are about its problems. Just my speculation.
