After editing, have you tried converting to sRGB (in PS Edit>Convert
to Profile) before printing? That may help.

I also use ProPhoto RGB as my working space & by using the soft proof
feature (using the Epson profiles) I get a good idea of how the final
image will come out in print. If soft proofing shows the colours way
out of whack, then I do some print output specific saturation, levels
& curves adjustments (the doesn't occur often, but it does crop up
from time to time).

FWIW, I make my prints with an Epson R2400.
