NO, I said you most likely cannot sell ANY dvd player
commercailly that you have modified without
a DVD licensing agreement which would most likely
preclude you from selling it at all without region
1 coding in usa.

1) purchase a DVD player, that I am entering a license agreement not to 
modify the hardware/firmware of the player.

or

2) purchase a DVD, that I am entering a license agreement not to view
the 
material using a multi-region player.

If you can do that, then you have a valid point regarding the legality
of 
either action.  If you can't, then I believe your understanding of the
issue 
is faulty.
