It's very unusual and I don't know the cause. Why is the black border there in the first place? Your crop seems to be off.
Try opening with Conversions Plus and resaving as a TIFF and see what happens. The effects tools are usually grayed out only when the image is in 16-bit mode, if that helps any. For the past year | I've been learning PhotoPaint, using PhotoCD scans. Now I have an LS | 2000, and found the following dilemmas on scanning my first slide. Can | anyone help? The version of Nikon Scan is 2.1.1. | | 1. I saved the slide as a TIF file. Then PhotoPaint 8 wouldn't open it, | saying "Illegal Tag Value." I got this message with both 8 and 12 bit | scans. PhotoPaint 8 otherwise opens and saves TIF files just fine. | | Using Conversions Plus, I converted the file to BMP. This lost half the | file size. (Does BMP not go beyond 8 bits?) But PhotoPaint 8 opened it | just fine. | | Then using Hijaak, I opened the original TIF file and trimmed off the | black border from the scan. I saved it as TIF, and this time PhotoPaint | 8 opened the file fine. So PhotoPaint doesn't like the black scan border | saved as TIF. | | 2. But for all images, PhotoPaint 8's "Effects" tools were nearly all | grayed out. I've never had this happen before, and I use some of these | regularly. They work fine otherwise. | | So can anyone tell me what's going on, and what to do? Having just | bought a scanner, I don't want to have to buy new or updated software | right away (Corel is now up to version 10). | | Thanks, | | Joe | - | This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
