Hi Barry,

I've found that behaviour to be typical of my *istD with some battery sets. 
When I put newly-recharged batteries in the camera, I never care of what the 
battery indicator says. A purely random indication will be as much useful.
After some use of the battery set, the indication approaches a useful info.
