Don't let it concern you. It's quite normal for the camera. Glitches can 
include everything from what you described to really weird things like AF 
not working properly, banding (I believe), my alltime fav is the vertical 
grip not working.
The istD was probably pushed onto the market very quickly, and had some 
manufactured in problems relating to battery output. It always seemed 
related to NiMH batteries though. As soon as I switched to lithiums, I never 
had another battery induced failure, other than total failure from the 
batteries dying.
