Once you have the camera set up the way you want it, you'll find you  
don't use many of the menus or buttons other than infrequently. I  
mostly use sensitivity, drive mode, and exposure/focus controls ...  
much as I always did with my film cameras. Other buttons and  
functions allow more things, of course, but I only use them once in a  
bit.

Yes, RAW format capture poses a serious advantage. I recommend using  
Adobe's Lightroom environment for image management, RAW conversion  
and global image processing work. The supplied Pentax software is  
fairly clumsy and slow to work with.
