Ask the people at your local photolab what sort of film volumes they are processing now as compared to 5 years ago. You may be seeing a few people still carrying around film cameras, but they aren't taking very many pictures. The last numbers I had available to me regarding film processing(spring 06) was that we were running about a fifth of the film we had been processing 5 years previous, and over half of it was from single use cameras.
