I can assure you, it ain't upside down. I was sober as a lark :-)
But could you put into words what makes you see the picture this way. If I 
knew what you see, then I might find a solution for an impovement.

This is a tweaked Lightroom sephia convertion. By tweaked I mean that I've 
manulated the contrast from the preset a bit further.
I've also clipped out and reversed one of the splashes. The direction of the 
splash contradicted the movement of the bird.

I tried a colour version first. But I found that the colours distracted from 
the energy and the movement in the scene. The water had a washed out look 
too. So the colors had to go.

I enjoyed your picture and the extended splashes the bird made on launch.
I am still a bit puzzled at how the reflection appears ahead of the bird.
It is just a little bit, but it makes me wonder...
Am I lookin at an upside down image?  Would that make a difference?
I wish the colors were a bit stronger as well.
