I don't think I'm being overly critical. Winning a lens or something else is fun. Winning a camera body or kit would be even better. I don't see how winning or clicking around = inspiring enthusiam though. Regardless of the intended purpose for the site, wouldn't inspiring enthusiam regarding Pentax among non-users reap a potential larger reward?
As a current and longtime Pentax owner, why would I care what other Pentax owners think about their equipment? I can and have formed my own opinions just fine. If there was something I was particularly interested in I would research it or come to a place like the PDML. As it is, there's just a bunch of things like: "I love Pentax" "I love my camera" "I have only owned Pentax" "I have used Pentax for 25 years" What does that tell me? Does reading the accolades make me think *I* love Pentax more? Does it give me a warm and fuzzy feeling, that I bought the right brand? For me, no. Maybe if Pentax had been more critical of themselves, or took it's customers feedback, even the negative kind, they would be better for it. I'm expressing my opinion about it and just so you know, it's not all negative. I like the overall design and I think there should probably be alot more photographer profiles, including some better known pros that might lend their name. Robert Glenn Ketchum comes to mind. http://www.robertglennketchum.com/ http://members.aol.com/kevinoneil/rgk.html As far as inspiring enthusiam though, why not have a 'Pentax hosted' photo sharing site. Not a gallery that requires judges to approve photos, but a site where any Pentax user could post their images. That's what photography is about, the results, the image. I could see that inspiring enthusiasm.
