Shel, Indeed you are an old fart. Certainly, comparisons are relative. The SuperProgram in design, was the last of the manual focus bodies, so has more of the "old" Pentax feel to it. After that they made the FS, PZ and ZX series. The SuperProgram feels more like the ME, MX side of the family than the SF, PZ side.
