Hi Ed, I never had any problem with the mount, and I changed lenses quite a bit when I had it. Lenses seemed to snap into place pretty solid, better than the P30t that I had (metal mount), but not so well as my ZX-5n or Super Programs for that matter. The heaviest lens that I have put on it was is a SMC K135/2.5. You might want to be careful about putting a real heavy lens on camera and then banging about with only the camera straps providing support. I think that would be an uncomfortable way carry a camera and large lens anyway. Still, mine has been dropped lens first a few times from waist height, and no issues with the mount.
The ZX-M can use either a linear or circular polarizer. The viewfinder display of the ZX-M is exactly the same as the ZX-5n (except no "in-focus" indicator) so if you have trouble seeing the information in bright light with the '5n, expect the same with the ZX-M. (I had my ZX-M and '5n for a couple of years before I realized this was a problem, and then only when it was pointed out on the list. Bright sunny days=bad lighting most of the time in my book, so I rarely have my cameras out in those conditions.) >From what I have been able gather, the Super Program seems to be a reliable body. The only thing that I've noticed on both of mine, is that with enough non-use, the self timer switch can get a little flaky. Solved by working it back and forth a couple of times. This was Pentax's top of the line "A" series body, so I think that it was fairly well built. Perhaps someone who has dissasembled one could tell us for sure. Sorry about the long post, I hope this helps to answer your questions. William in Utah. >Thank you GREATLY for the comparison. Lots of points >to consider. This may be a stupid question, but does the ZX-M require a circular polarizer like the ZX-5n? >3. You mentioned that the ZX-M's viewfinder in bright light. Is it as bad as the ZX-5n? >4. I never had my old SP CLA'ed. I've read about issues with the LX, etc. Is there anything to be wary of if I decide to go the SP route when looking for a SP body? >Thanks much!!! >Ed in Illinois Find a job, post your resume. http://careers.yahoo.com - This message is from the Pentax-Discuss Mail List.
