Actually that's been independently tested and if the electronics of the Airplane are properly shielded then Cell phones should have little or no effect. Have you ever looked at the prices they charge per minute on those in flight cell phones? However under most circumstances I'd much rather not have loud obnoxious cell phone conversations going on nearby so I'm in favor of the ban. Now if they'd only allow smoking, and ban cell phones, in bars and restaurants. I could live the second hand smoke risk.
