I drive all my scanners (Epson 2450 and V700, Minolta Scan Dual II and Nikon Coolscan IV ED) with VueScan. Far as I'm concerned, it does the best job of acquiring data.
I've never used any of the OEM software for any but the Scan Dual II of the above.
