The vertical banding on the first shot was quite noticeable but in
this more recently posted shot it is only just noticeable but the
noise is more so.  Go figure.  I notice vertical banding on some of my
own shots when I underexpose by a stop or more and there are solid
dark areas in the shot.  I agree with Tom that this ruin some shots -
the lesson seems to be don't underexpose dark subjects.
