I think you missed the part in the post about his monoblocks, Mafud. :)

He didn't shoot with eensy weensy on-camera flashes, but he had plenty 
of big ol' studio strobes.

 From reading the post, I don't get the impression that this fella shot 
weddings or PJ-style work.  Not all photography involves weddings, and 
not all photographers shoot weddings.
