The D was very bad for WB/ISO setting, as you had to drop out of
shooting mode to set it. With the later bodies, you can dismiss the
setting with a brush of the shutter if something catches your eye.
I've lost shots to the D's ISO setting.

I've actually just switched my AF button to cancel from select centre
point, after the discussion here. It's helping with my low-light
shooting, where overriding the AF is often necessary.
