I'm with Dave on this - I have Norton on my laptop and it starts so slowly I can go and make coffee before it's ready. I suspect it interferes with normal software too, as standard applications tend to be slow in starting up.
Mind you, the current version of PC-Cillin also performs a lengthy check on start-up.
