I'm generally of the opinion that pretty much anything in the $999+ pricepoint can be 'Pro' bodies. I don't find the E-3 to be built any better than an A700 or 40D(which thankfully is noticably better built than the 20D/30D) outside of better rubber cladding, I find the D300(and D200) to be more solid than anything else in the 'not a $5000+ pro body' category.
