I handled a D300 for about 20 minutes last week and I'll agree it was  
damned speedy.

It also had a lot better controls than the D200 (which is also,  
though, darned fast)

Didn't really much care for the interface on either of those two,  
though.  It made me realize that while I pine for the "speedy  
autofocus" fields that the other brands have, that's about the only  
thing in the other camps of which I am envious.
