Along with the mining of the zinc, the shipping it half way around the world for refining, shipping it again half way around the world for battery manufacturing, shipping the batteries to the auto plant, and shipping the finished car to its final destination. The comparison I read was the Hummer H2 vs Prius and was based on expected lifecycle. The H2 is "expected" to have a 200k mile life whereas, according to the study I read, the Prius' batteries (and by extension the vehicle - again, not my assumption) are expected to last only 100k miles. The cost per mile of the H2 was less than the Prius (including fuel costs, maintenance, etc). -- Christian http://photography.skofteland.net -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List [email protected] http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
