12MP CMOS Sensor, WAY better high ISO than the D200(which performed
similarly to the K10D), but not nearly as good as the D3(nothing is,
the D3 is at least 1 stop better than anything else on the market). If
you've seen the K20D high ISO shots, the D300 is similar in
performance, a little noisier at 6400 but about the same at 3200 and
below.

Here's an ISO 6400 shot from the D300 (me shooting a friends D300 with
the Tamron 17-50. ISO 6400, 1/[EMAIL PROTECTED]@17mm, no NR in post beyond
Lightroom's default 25 in colour, B&W conversion in Lightroom):
